Threading Lightly: How UFC, DAZN, and WWE are Missing Zuck’s Threads Opportunity

Threads has been alive for just over a month.

At first, a flurry of mostly-celebrities and brands dominated the feed, cleverly crafting witty intro posts, promising their newly captive audience that they were here to stay.

Thankfully, very few actually kept that promise, sparing us from anthropomorphic brand-trend-speak.

NFT Twitter was unhinged in 2021

Unfortunately, that has left fight fans that gather ‘round the bonfire of large accounts’ comment sections out in the cold.

On Threads, there is no ‘trending’ tab, no hashtags, just yet… (part of it’s charm).

The only major way to chat about trending shared interests is either Twitter (X) , or to Thread into the void hoping your mutuals see it.

With Threads offering a quieter space, I missed the buzz of live event banter. Here I was last Saturday night, kicked back with Twitter, vodka, and an edible, enjoying the biggest night in combat sports so far this year.
